Have you already discovered Overnight Oats for yourself? I’m still a big fan of this healthy power breakfast. Today I have a delicious Overnight Oats recipe for you, which fits wonderfully to the current season. Overnight Oats with plum compote taste incredibly delicious and are quickly prepared. I regularly share the recipe for this healthy breakfast idea with the participants of my Meal Prep Workshops. For me this is the best way to show that a healthy diet can be integrated easily into your daily life – even if you don’t have much time. This delicious power breakfast is also a great way to start the day powerful and nutritious.
What are Overnight Oats?
Overnight Oats are nothing more than a homemade cereal porridge. They are layered in glasses with fruits and yoghurt at will. As they are eaten cold, they provide a little variety to porridge and oatmeal.
Delicious power breakfast
As the name suggests, Overnight Oats are made by soaking grain or pseudo grain in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning this can be layered with fruit and/or natural yoghurt as desired. Through the combination of cereals, nuts, seeds, fruits and a protein-rich food such as natural yoghurt, overnight oats are extremely nutritious and healthy. The cereals they contain provide us with all the important nutrients in the morning and give us the necessary energy for the day. The carbohydrates contained in the mix with protein-rich foods such as natural yoghurt and nuts provide a long-lasting feeling of satiety – without burden.
Overnight Oats – perfect Meal Prep breakfast
Overnight Oats are the perfect breakfast Meal Prep meal. One reason why I prepare them regularly with the participants of my workshops.
Since the grain is thickened the evening before and soaked overnight, you save valuable time for preparation in the morning. Overnight Oats are wonderful everyday helpers, especially in the morning when you have to be quick.
Overnight Oats never taste boring
Overnight Oats can be prepared for several days. And no fear… Nevertheless, they never taste boring. Those who like variety can vary with different toppings such as nuts, fruits and seeds. You can also decide according to your own taste and preference when choosing the type of grain or pseudo grain. For the preparation I use oat flakes as well as all gluten-free pseudo grains such as buckwheat, millet or quinoa flakes at least as likely and vary here regularly. The same applies to soaking in a plant milk variety.
My tip: If you prepare Overnight Oats in the sense of a Meal Prep meal for a few days in advance, I recommend to soak them in water because of their faster perishability.
